Pre Event Documentation

Thank you for your entry. Your competitor number and sound check time are given on the Documentation Form in the centre of this booklet.

If you are bringing a trailer to the event, you may leave it at the finish venue, Brantingham Park (106/943287). A form is provided with this booklet which must be completed and left in the office at Brantingham Park if you wish to leave your trailer there. Competitors are reminded that trailers are left at the owners risk. A plan of Brantingham Park can be found later in these instructions, indicating where to park your trailer, and where to deposit the form.

The sound check, scrutineering, signing on and the start of the rally will all take place in and around the Armstrong Massey Land Rover dealership on the A64 at Bilbrough near York, map reference 105/535458. A plan of this venue is given later in the booklet. Please note that in order to prevent delays at the junction of the A64, you must not approach the start from the west on the Sunday morning, but instead go on to the A1237 junction, turn round, and come back from the east. Otherwise, cars leaving the start cannot see oncoming traffic due to cars queueing to leave the A64.

The sound check is located at 105/546477. You must approach via 542½469, and depart via 558476. Note that Bilbrough and Colton are prohibited areas, as well as the road from 534½458 to 539446.

You MUST report to the sound check at the time given on the Documentation Form. If you are more than ten minutes early or late, the Environmental Scrutineer will refuse to perform the sound check, and you will need to contact the Entries Secretary for a new time. We have operated this system in the past, and found it was very successful in reducing queues at scrutineering. If the time you have been given is not suitable, you must ring the Entries Secretary on 01482-876400, and she will issue you with a new time. If you need to change your time very close to the event, she can be contacted on 07887-742508.

The Environmental Scrutineer will need to sign your Documentation Form, to show that you arrived on time, and to indicate that you passed the sound check. Please make sure that you have it ready. You will be issued with your competition numbers at the sound check. Once you have passed the sound check, please proceed to scrutineering, making sure that your competition numbers have been fixed on before you arrive.

The Scrutineer will also need to sign your Documentation Form, as well as see your tax disc and MOT certificate where appropriate. He will also need to see both helmets and sets of overalls, so please have these ready.

After passing scrutineering, move to signing on. You must sign on straight after scrutineering, and will need to take competition licences, including entrant's licence if applicable, club membership cards or championship registration cards, BAE SYSTEMS PIT pass if an employee of BAE SYSTEMS, and the Documentation sheet with you when you sign on. If only one of the crew is present at signing-on, you will be given your full pack except your time cards. These will only be given once the other crew member has signed on. Please ensure that you have completed the areas of the documentation sheet regarding service and management vehicles in full, as any vehicle assisting you which is not listed on this sheet will be classed as you receiving unauthorised assistance.

You will be issued with a Rally Pack containing road book, rally plates, time cards, support vehicle documentation etc., as soon as you have successfully signed on. There will be a contents list on this pack. Please make sure that you check this list to ensure nothing is missing.

The official notice board will be in the showroom near signing on. Please make sure you read the notices. The notice board (and Rally H.Q.) will move to the finish venue at between 8 and 9:30am on Sunday morning. There will be O.S. maps on display which show the rally route for you to copy onto your own maps if you require.

Please note that there is limited parking available at the start venue. We ask that you help us avoid congestion by not arriving too early for scrutineering, and leaving shortly after you have signed on (if you scrutineer on Saturday). Additionally, we would request that you do not arrive for the start more than 20 minutes before your due start time. Please note that only competition vehicles are permitted in the parking area in front of Armstrong Massey. You are advised that other car parks in the area are the property of other businesses, who may not appreciate you using their car park without buying anything. You park elsewhere at your own risk.

Reminders and Information

Your start time is 8:20am plus your car number in minutes. For example, car number 27 will start at 08:47, and car 68 will start at 09:28.

Service vehicles will be provided with detailed instructions for the whole day in your rally pack. They will not require a rally plate, as there is free access to the service area at all times. Management cars will be allowed in other areas and will also be provided with instructions, and a rally plate. All competitors will receive a management pack. Please remember that all your personnel are your responsibility - you must ensure that your service and management crews accurately follow their respective instructions, or you run the risk of being excluded. If any of these personnel infringe any regulations, then you may be penalised. If necessary you should plot the routes for your support team. Please also remember that no servicing may be carried out on the road by anyone other than personnel in a management car. Remember also that your management car cannot be any bigger than car size. This means that any car is okay, including estate cars, as well as 4x4 vehicles such as Range Rovers etc, and car derived vans such as Escort vans etc. However, vehicles larger than this, such as Transit vans, are definitely not allowed.

S.R.9. Competitors are reminded that vehicles that constantly backfire are strictly prohibited.

S.R. 20. Pace Note Searches may be made. You are reminded that the possession of Pace Notes will lead to exclusion and a report to the MSA.

Maximum penalty free lateness will be 20 minutes from the start to TC9A, and 30 minutes from ATC10 to the finish.

There are many filling stations on the road route, and the location of each one is given in the Road Book. In view of this, competitors are strongly recommended not to re-fuel from cans etc., but always to use a proper filling station.

In this booklet is a definition of the rally route using map references. This will reveal the locations of the stages. Competitors or associated personnel are prohibited from visiting these stages before the rally. Any competitor who visits any stage before the rally without reasonable cause will be excluded and a report passed to the MSA.

Competitors who have been unable to sign any of the declarations regarding third party road insurance are reminded to ensure that they have arranged cover.

Competitors are reminded of the 15 mph speed limit when not driving on a stage or a public road. Any competitor or support crew breaking the limit may be excluded.

You will not be classed as a finisher unless you hand in your damage declaration form at the final time control. If you retire, you must send this form to the Secretary of the Meeting within 72 hours, or give it to the Course Closing Car or any Stage Commander.

In accordance with K.24.2.7.(b), we will be operating the red flag system on the Elvington stages only. In the event of an accident on the stage which needs the immediate attention of the rescue crew, certain marshals around the stage will wave a red flag. If you see this flag being waved, you must slow down to 15mph maximum, and be prepared to stop or be overtaken by non-competitors. You should proceed directly to the stage finish, even if on your first lap, and you will be given a notional time as defined in K.24.2.8. N.B. Once the red flags come out, everyone on the stage will receive the same notional time.

If you need to speak to an event official, you can contact the Clerk of the Course at the finish venue on 07970-264094 or you can speak to any Stage Commander.

We hope you have a successful and enjoyable day.
