Larkspeed League 1999 |
Thanks to the efforts of our 1998 Larkspeed League competitors, the Armstrong Massey Rally 1999 was a round of the Larkspeed League. The usual prize money was on offer in 1999, with the Armstrong Massey Rally doubling the prize fund from Larkspeed when we ended up in the top ten.
Summary of 1999 Larkspeed League events:-
Event 1 was the Sporting Escort Owners Club Autotest on 7th March, which none of our members competed in.
Event 2 was the Alwoodley Road Rally on 20th/21st March, for which we had three teams of Graeme Potter/Ian Gibbins (95.7), Dave Twilton/Mike Petch (51.7) and Jon Meacock/Carl Briggs (10.0). This gave us a total of 157.4 points, putting us 3rd club on the event, and just scraping into the top ten overall in tenth place.
Event 3 was the Sheffield & Hallamshire Sprint at Curborough on 9th May, which none of our members competed in. However, due to the low number of Larkspeed League entries, we maintained our 10th overall placing.
Event 4 was Airedale & Pennine's PCT on Sunday 23rd May, which was competed in by Jon Meacock (52.9) and Howard Everingham (49.3). This put us 7th club in the event, and moved us up one place to 9th overall.
Event 5 was North Humberside's John Overend Stages Rally at Manby on 12th June, which none of our club members competed in. This caused us to drop one position, back to 10th overall.
Event 6 was Huddersfield's Autotest on 20th June, which was competed on by Howard Everingham alone, gaining us 97.5 points for 1st in class, and putting us 9th club on the event, and also moving us up 2 positions to 8th overall.
Event 7 was our own Armstrong Massey Rally on 11th July, which was competed on by Mike Atkinson/Mike Hurst(5.0), as well as two other crews who had only joined Beverley to do the event, R.Palmer/G. Bolt(5.0) and J.Deegan/K.Shepherd(72.5). This put us 10th club on the event, yet we still dropped one position to 9th overall.
Event 8 was Ilkley's PCT at Bolton Abbey on 25th July, which was competed on by Jon Meacock (55.8) and Howard Everingham (43.3). This put us fourth club on the event, and raised us back up one position to 8th overall.A
Event 9 was York's Autotest on 4th September, which none of our members competed on. This dropped us down one position to 9th overall.
